What is the most annoying thing to you when cleaning the kitchen? Many people may say that grease stains are the most troublesome as they are sticky, hard to get rid of, and look awful on the kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately, it is inevitable that while cooking, some grease can be spattered on the cabinets or you may accidentally put your oily hands on the cabinets, leaving stain marks everywhere. If you don’t clean the grease spots soon, they will become gluey and very stubborn. Fortunately, Sparkling and Beyond are here to help! We have summed up 5 effective methods to properly wipe off these grease on your cabinets so that they won’t be your problem in the kitchen again.

Method 1: Clean the kitchen cabinet’s oil stains with white vinegar and water

Due to its acidic nature, white vinegar is a good degreasing cleaner. You can use vinegar to effectively wipe off oil stains on your cabinet.

You need to prepare:

  • White vinegar
  • Warm water
  • Spray
  • A piece of cloth

Firstly, mix the vinegar and warm water in equal amounts and fill the spray with the mixture. Next, apply the mixture to oil stains on the cabinet and let it sit for some minutes.

Lastly, wipe off the substance and grease with a piece of wet cloth, make sure the cloth is only slightly dampened since excessive water could ruin the wooden cabinet.

Method 2: Clean the kitchen cabinet oil stains with dishwashing liquid

Dishwashing cleaner can effectively remove oil and dirt on the dishes. Naturally, it is also efficient in dealing with oil stains on your cabinets.

You will need:

  • Dishwashing cleaner
  • Warm water
  • A soft sponge
  • A piece of cloth

To begin with, mix the dishwashing liquid with warm water in a bowl or container. Then, immerse the sponge into the mixture and squeeze away excessive water.

When the sponge is ready, scrub the cabinet surface all over and make sure you do this along the grain of the wooden cabinet to prevent damage to the wood.

For the tougher stains, pour some dishwashing cleaner directly on the sponge and brush the stains. If the stains are still there, rinse the sponge, pour the cleaner onto the sponge and scrub the stains again.

Repeat this step until the grime is gone. Finally, wipe the cabinet clean with a dry cloth so that no dirt and soap remain.

Method 3: Clean the kitchen cabinet oil stains with citrus cleaner

The citrus cleaner is also a good degreaser due to its similar acidic nature similar to vinegar. You can use any multipurpose cleaner that includes citrus oil to clean your cabinets effectively

The tools you need are:

  • Citrus multipurpose cleaner
  • 2 pieces of cloth
  • Warm water

This method is less complicated than others. Apply the cleaner directly on the cabinets and let it sit for some minutes. Next, use a wet cloth to wipe off the grease on the cabinets’ surface. Finally, clean the rest of the grime with another clean wet cloth and dry up the cabinet.

Method 4: Clean the kitchen cabinet oil stains with baking soda and lemon

Baking soda and lemon are the other two popular and natural cleaners for your house. They can also tidy up your cabinets with great success.

 The tools you need are:

  • Sponge
  • Baking soda
  • Warm water
  • Lemon juice (1 lemon is enough)
  • Spray
  • Cloth

Mix the baking soda with water with a portion of 1 to 2 and add lemon juice into the solution. Next, fill the spray with the mixture and spray the liquid on the kitchen cabinets. Similar to other methods, wait for 2 to 3 minutes for the mixture to take effect.

At this point, the grease can be easily removed with repeated scrubbing of a sponge. Finally, you can wipe your cabinets clean with a cloth.

General maintenance of the kitchen cabinet to save time to clean grease stains

There are some measures that can be taken to avoid the pile-up of grease on your cabinets. Firstly, remember to clean your cabinets’ oil stains once per week to avoid any stain pileup.

In addition, while cooking meals, wash your hands whenever they get oily so that the grease on your hands will not be transferred onto the cabinet doors.

If your cabinet is made of wood, it should be noted that cleaning the grease on your wooden cabinet can actually wipe away the moisture in the wood and damage the protective coat on the wooden surface.

Therefore, you can buy protection products made of beeswax and apply them to the surface of the wooden cabinets so that the wood will not dry out.
