Every cleaning professional has a preferred cleaning method. On the other hand, having an established cleaning method to treat different stains will help you get the best result. It will also ensure that all projects are completed thoroughly and adequately to the client’s satisfaction.

Professional cleaning services say starting with the basics is the best way to tackle any cleaning project. This includes dusting, sweeping, and trash removal from all rooms. Here are some common stains with the best solutions to clean them.

Wine and other beverage stains

Spills from red wine, juice, coffee, and other beverages can leave tough stains on carpets, upholstery, and bedding. For those types of stain, remember to treat it as soon as it happens. The longer it sits on your furniture, the harder it is to remove even by cleaners. Here are steps to follow if you are handling wine and other beverage stains:

Step 1: Find the cleaning instructions of the manufacturer:

This step will ensure you know exactly what shouldn’t be used on that stain to avoid damage. For upholstered furniture, you can find more detail about How To Clean Upholstered Furniture In Your Home. Otherwise, searching for cleaning instructions on Google would be best.

Step 2: lot up the excess liquid:

Use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot up as much spilled liquid as possible. Be careful not to rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread.

Step 3: Apply a cleaning solution:

You can try using a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for fresh stains. Apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. You may need a more robust cleaning solution for older stains such as a commercial carpet stain remover or a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and dish soap.

Step 4: Blot the stain:

Use a clean, damp cloth to blot the stain. Again, be careful not to rub the stain as this can cause it to spread.

Step 5: Rinse with clean water and dry:

After removing as much of the stain as possible, rinse the area with clean water to remove any remaining cleaning solution. After that, use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot the area dry. If the stain is on a carpet, use a fan or open windows to help dry the area more quickly.

Note: Tough stains may require multiple cleaning attempts. If the color doesn’t come out after the first try, let the area dry completely and try again.

Grease and oil stains

Use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to absorb as much grease or oil as possible. Be careful not to rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread. You can choose one from these two options:

  • Mix a small dish soap with warm water and apply the solution to the stain.
  • Use a degreaser or a commercial stain remover designed specifically for grease and oil stains.

Use a clean, damp cloth or sponge to work the cleaning solution into the stain. Be sure to work from outside the stain toward the center to avoid spreading it. After removing as much of the stain as possible, rinse the area with clean water to remove any remaining cleaning solution. Use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot the area dry. If the stain is on a carpet, use a fan or open windows to help dry the area more quickly.

Makeup and beauty product stains

First, use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of the spilled product as possible. Be careful not to rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread. You can use different cleaning solutions to tackle makeup and beauty product stains depending on the type of product.

  • Use warm water and dish soap to remove foundation or concealer stains.
  • For lipstick or mascara stains, you may need to use rubbing alcohol or vinegar.

Ink and marker stains

To clean ink and marker stains in short-term rentals, use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of the ink or marker as possible. Be careful not to rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread.

Options of cleaners you can use:

  • You can use rubbing alcohol, vinegar, or dish soap and warm water to remove ink and marker stains from hard surfaces like countertops or walls.
  • For clothing or fabric stains, you can try using a stain remover or rubbing alcohol.

Finally, use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot the area dry. If the stain is on a carpet or fabric, use a fan or open windows to help dry the area more quickly.

Food stains

Food stain is common in areas such as the kitchen and sofa. If any solid pieces of food are on the surface, you should use a spoon or dull knife to gently scrape them off before applying any solutions. For food stains, there are some mixtures to help you:

  • A mixture of warm water and dish soap(this option is suitable to apply on hard surfaces like countertops or floors).
  • A mixture of white vinegar and water, or use stain remover (this option is suitable for clothing or fabric stains).
